The nightcap game of action on July 1st featured the Smith County Camo All Stars taking on the Gallatin American Legion All Stars at the beautiful Harold “Slick” Collins Memorial Field. Gallatin ceased control early and played flawless defense as they went on to win this one 28-0. Gallatin pounded out 17 hits in this one. They scored ten runs in the first and eight more in the second to take an early 18-0 lead. They then pushed across nine more in the third to make 27-0. In the fourth this one finally ended as they pushed across one more to make it 28-0, and putting Gallatin one win away from the Area Championship. Gallatin tossed a trio of pitchers. Clark Langley, Jaylon Wilks, and Peyton Moss were phenomenal on the mound through their four innings of works. They combined for 11 strikeouts while allowing only one hit. Clark Langley picked up the win working 2-2/3 innings of work. Chase Runyan led the Gallatin offense at the plate with four hits. AJ Davis was hot on his heels as he managed three hits in the contest. Jake Thompson and Theron Lee followed closely behind them with two hits each. Lawson Tea, Peyton Moss, Jaryn Nevil, Trevor Choate, Jaylon Wilks, and Brandon Griffin rounded out the Gallatin attack with one hit each. Smith County Camo struggled at the plate the entire tournament. They managed one hit in the contest and were led by Tyler Testa who had one hit. WP- Clark Langley (G) LP- Dalton Dillard (SCC)

After an hour and ten minute weather delay, Smith County Red and Lebanon Blue faced off in a much anticipated contest on Wednesday, July 1st. This game went back and forth as a chance to move onto the District 2 Tournament was still available.
Smith County jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first, but Lebanon cut it to 3-2. Smith County once again pushed across four more in the second to make 7-2, but Lebanon quickly cut it to 7-3. Lebanon pushed across two in the third to make it 7-5. However, Lebanon’s biggest blow came in the fourth as they pushed across eight runs to make it 13-7. Smith County fought back in the fifth making it 13-9, but once again Lebanon found a way to scrape out a run making it 14-9 as we headed to the sixth. Smith County was able to cut it to 14-11, but Lebanon once again found a way to get out of the jam securing the win.
Lebanon threw multiple pitchers in the contest, but Kyle Toporowski worked a solid last two innings to pick up the win.
Lebanon Blue was led at the plate by Kyle Toporowski and Jackson Bone who each had two hits. Zack Self, Colt Orman, and Teigan Orr rounded out the attack for Lebanon as they each had one hit.
Smith County Red was led by Kyle Adams and Own Gregory who each had three hits. They were followed by Abe Goolsby, Clayton Rigsby, and Peyton Hix who each had one hit.

On Tuesday, June 30th, the “Battle for Smith County” took place as the Smith County Red and Camo teams faced off in the 10U Area Tournament. Smith County Red jumped out quickly and never let go of the lead in this one.
SC Red pushed across four in the first inning to jump out to early 4-0 lead. They then pushed across three more in the third to go 7-0. SC Camo answered back cutting the lead to 7-1 in the fourth, but SC Red pushed across two more runs capturing the win 9-1.
SC Red’s trio of Kyle Adams, Taylor Kemp, and Abe Goolsby proved to be enough to slow down SC Camo in this one as they combined for a two hitter and seven strikeouts. Taylor Kemp picked up the win as he worked 3-2/3 innings.
Smith County Red was led by Abe Goolsby, Kyle Adams, and Peyton Hix who each had one hit.
Smith County Camo managed two hits in the contest. They were led by Dalton Dillard and Dallas Smith who each had one hit.

On Monday, June 29th, the 12U Area 2 Tournament began at the beautiful Jackie Underwood Memorial Field as Smith County hosted the Gallatin American Legion All Stars. A combination of timely hitting and solid pitching proved to be more than enough for Gallatin in this one.
Gallatin started the scoring with two in the first to take a 2-0 lead to the second. They then pushed across two more in the second to make it 4-0. Smith County cut it to 4-1 in the fourth when they pushed across a run, but once again Gallatin responded with a three run fifth to win the contest 7-1.
Gallatin pitcher Hayden Minor was phenomenal on the mound. The 12 year old righty tossed a complete game no hitter, striking out eight, and walking three.
Smith County pitcher Zeke Dillon was phenomenal as well he worked five innings, striking out nine, giving up three hits, and walking three.
Gallatin was led at the plate by James Mason who had two hits. Hayden Minor and Jay Adams followed Adams with one hit each. Minor blasted a big three run homer over the left field wall to seal the contest 7-1 in the fifth.

Smith County Red met with the mighty Gallatin American Legion All Stars this past Monday, June 29th, in the nightcap game of the local 10U Area Tournament. Gallatin looked to improve to 2-0 in the tournament and two wins away from capturing the Area Championship as they put Smith County Red away early and never looked back.
Gallatin jumped out early with a six run first to take a 6-0 lead to the second. In the second, they tacked on one more to make it 7-0. In the third, they tacked on two more to make 9-0, but they were not finished yet. Gallatin pounded across six more runs in the fourth behind a home run from Theron Lee to expand the lead to 15-0. Smith County pushed across a run in their half as Gallatin went on to win 15-1.
Gallatin pitcher Jake Thompson was flawless on the mound. He worked four innings, giving up one hit, striking out eight, and walking two while picking up the win.
Gallatin pounded out 18 hits in the contest. They were led by Chase Runyan and Jake Thompson who each had three hits. AJ Davis, Jaryn Nevil, Theron Lee, Clark Langley, and Jaylon Wilks followed them up with two hits each. Noah Rice and Peyton Moss rounded out the attack for Gallatin as they each added one hit.
Smith County Red managed one hit in the contest. They were led by Clayton Rigsby who singled in the first.

After taking Sunday off, the Smith County Camo faced off with the Sparta All Stars on Monday, June 29th, in local 10U Area Tournament action. Similar to their first game, Smith County Camo struggled at the plate, and Sparta made them pay as they cruised to an easy victory.
Sparta jumped out early in the first posting an early 8-0 lead. Smith County Camo responded in the second cutting it to 8-1, but Sparta tack on one in their half to make 9-1. In the third, Smith County once again cut it to 9-2, but Sparta tacked on three more to win the contest 12-2 by mercy rule in four innings.
Sparta pitchers Seth Green and Bray Frasier did their job on the mound as they worked four innings and scattering three hits. Frasier picked up the win working three innings of relief.
Sparta was led at the plate by Noah Vinson who had three hits in the contest. Vinson was followed by Trad Grizzle, John Issac Baker, Owen Adams, Seth Green, Jacob Maples, and Tripp Pinion who each had one hit.
Smith County Camo had three hits in the contest. They were led by Trey Greenhaw, Tyler Testa, and Lucas Roberts who each had one hit.

The local Smith County 10U All Stars took to the field on Saturday, June 27th, to kick off the postseason for Smith County Little League. Lebanon Blue jumped out early in this one and never looked back as they cruised to a mercy rule victory over Smith County Camo.
Lebanon started the scoring early as they took advantage of numerous walks and some timely hits to jump out to an 11-0 lead after two innings of play. In the third, Lebanon Blue punched another across to make it 12-0. In the fourth, Lebanon Blue once again piled it on as they pushed across four more to make it 16-0. Smith County Camo pushed across a late run, but it was not enough as Lebanon Blue cruised to tourney opening win 16-1.
Lebanon pitchers Teigan Orr and Kyle Toporowski were dominant on the mound as they combined to toss a two hitter with eight strikeouts over four innings of work. Orr picked up the win as he went two innings before turning it over to Toporowski in the third.
Lebanon benefitted from numerous walks in the contest but did manage to scrape out five hits in the contest. Charlie Mitchell led the way for Lebanon Blue with two hits. Mitchell was followed by Zack Self, Jackson Bone, and Quin Long who each had one hit.
Smith County Camo struggled at the dish as the Lebanon pitchers proved to be too much. They were led by Tyler Testa and Trey Greenhaw who each had one hit.

Southside Lions Club Drive for Sight Golf Tournament
Saturday, June 20th, marked the 8th annual Southside Lions Club Drive for Sight golf tournament. The tournament is hosted at Southern Hills Golf and Country Club located conveniently off of Interstate I-40 in Baxter, Tennessee.
Severe weather conditions in the early morning hours proposed the possibility of a cancelation. However, after a one hour rain delay, the faithful participants teed off at 9:00 a.m. The tournament format was its usual 2 man scramble with 43 teams of all ages competing. During play the golfers were challenged with normal side games such as: closet to the pin, longest drive contest, closet to the line, and a possibility to win a $10,000 prize if a hole-in-one was aced on the 6th hole.
Lunch was provided afterwards with the awarding of numerous door prizes, 50/50 drawing, lucky ball drop, and the announcement of winners for the 4 established flights.
This fundraiser for the Southside Lions Club of Gordonsville is their most successful, allowing them to provide financial assistance and aid to local citizens whom have impaired vision. The Lions Club would like to extend the invitation to anyone who may be interested in playing next year. The planned date is Saturday, June 18th, 2016.

The nightcap game of the June 16th Tuesday night action featured the A’s and the Yankees who each looked to finish the season with a win. The Yankees were down a couple of players, and the A’s looked to complete their season on a winning streak.
The A’s 16-year-old pitching trio of Ethan Potts, Jacob Mimms, and Mason Gregory went to the mound on a mission as they looked to finish their rec league careers with a win. The trio was remarkable on the mound. The trio worked five innings while scattering three hits. They also combined to strike out seven Yanks.
The A’s offensive attack was led by multiple players. David Insco, Jacob Mimms, Mason Gregory, and Jacob Davenport each pounded out a pair of singles in the contest. Ethan Potts, Steve Insco, and Austin Hughes each pounded out a single to round out the A’s offense. The A’s finished the season at 4-8, finishing 5th.
The Yankees were led by Draven Wilkerson, Connor Warren, and Matthew Battles who each had one hit. Each of the young men had a single. The Yankees finished the season at 2-9.

On June 16th, the Twins looked to capture the Senior League championship with a win versus the Carthage Courier Rangers. The Twins also looked to keep their undefeated season alive just days after surviving a scare from the Red Sox.
With that said, the Twins sent Grant Winfree to the mound. Winfree was phenomenal on the mound as he worked 5-1/3 innings of work while scattering three hits. Winfree turned the ball over to 16-year-old closer Ethan Hackett who shut down the Rangers bats while striking out three over 1-1/3 innings of work.
The Twins offensive attack was led by Jase Holder and Nathan Huff. Holder had a pair of singles in the contest while his teammate Huff also added a pair of singles. They were followed by Dylan Hackett, Ethan Hackett, Mitchell Kirby, Winfree, and Nick Dillehay. With the victory, the Twins claimed the 2015 Smith County Senior League Championship.
The Rangers struggled offensively as the Twins pitchers were nearly flawless on the mound. However, they did manage three hits in the contest. Shortstop Eli Martin led the attack for the Rangers as he had a pair of singles while also scoring two of their runs. He was drove in by the only other Ranger to have hit, Matthew Enoch. Enoch singled in the sixth but was left stranded on second. With the loss, the Rangers still managed to finish second in the league.
