Karl Dean to Continue “Talking Jobs and Family Across Tennessee” in Putnam, White, Anderson, and Knox Counties

Dean Hosted Events in Madison, Haywood Counties Wednesday

Tuesday’s Gibson County Events, Which Were Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather, Have Been Rescheduled to Oct. 18

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 15) — Over the next week, Karl Dean for Governor will host campaign events in Putnam, White, Anderson, and Knox Counties to highlight the issues that matter most to families: good jobs, public schools, and healthcare.

This Saturday, Sept. 16, Dean will host a teacher roundtable with Putnam County educators in Cookeville to discuss what the state can do to improve the public education system and attend a University of Tennessee football watch party in White County’s Sparta.

On Tuesday, Sept. 19, Dean will tour the Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the 75th anniversary of the Manhattan Project, privately meet with Anderson County school officials, and host a meet and greet for interested voters.

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Dean will privately tour Knox County Public Schools Career Magnet Academy at Pellissippi State Community College and the BHG Knoxville Citico Treatment Center, which treats patients suffering from opioid addiction.

This past Wednesday, Sept. 13, Dean hosted a coffee and conversation event in Brownsville and privately met with Jackson community healthcare professionals and Lane College faculty.

At the Brownsville gathering, Dean emphasized to attendees while discussing business recruitment and retainment in Haywood County, “It’s good for East Tennessee if West Tennessee prospers and vice versa…We’ve got to look out for one another.”

While Mayor of Nashville from 2007-2015, Dean helped navigate economic development with companies like Bridgestone, UBS, Loews Hotels, Warby Parker, Lifepoint, Asurion and Carlex Glass. He also negotiated a deal to keep the Predators, our state’s NHL team, from relocating elsewhere. As Governor, Dean will aggressively work to recruit businesses to communities across Tennessee, just as he did for Nashville.

Dean will help identify, develop and capitalize on infrastructure assets, like the Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County. The megasite sits in one of more than a dozen economically distressed counties in Tennessee, meaning it’s in the bottom 10 percent of counties in the nation based on poverty, income and unemployment. Dean will work to recruit the right business to the megasite in Haywood County and help other economically distressed counties find business recruitment opportunities.

During September and October, the campaign’s statewide launch will include stops in Anderson, Blount, Cheatham, Davidson, Franklin, Gibson, Hamilton, Haywood, Knox, Madison, Montgomery, Putnam, Rutherford, Shelby, and Weakley Counties. All future events and dates will be advised in detail.

Conservative economic icon Arthur Laffer endorses Diane Black for Governor

Diane Black

Architect of Reagan fiscal policy to serve as Economic Advisor to Diane Black for Governor

NASHVILLE – Conservative economist and close Reagan advisor Arthur Laffer today endorsed Diane Black for Governor and will serve as Economic Advisor to Diane Black for Governor. Dr. Laffer was a personal economic advisor to both President Reagan and Prime Minister Thatcher, serving on the President’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of President Reagan’s two terms in office.

“Diane Black knows exactly how to keep Tennessee’s economy growing rapidly by ensuring that Tennessee keeps tax rates low while paying its bills and protecting its taxpayers,” said Dr. Laffer. “I moved from California to Tennessee eleven years ago for these very reasons, and I couldn’t be happier with my adopted home state. There’s no one more qualified and prepared to lead Tennessee into a new era of prosperity than Diane Black.”

Dr. Laffer’s economic acumen and influence in triggering a world-wide tax-cutting movement in the 1980’s earned him the distinction in many publications as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics.” The New York Times wrote, “we do know from official economic statistics that the seven-year period from 1982 to 1989 was the greatest, consistent burst of economic activity ever seen in the U.S. In fact, it was the greatest economic expansion the world has ever seen – in any country, at any time.”

“Art Laffer has the greatest fiscal policy track record of the last 40 years,” said Black. “I am honored to have his endorsement and look forward to working with him to put conservative economic principles to work in Tennessee. My team will focus on bringing jobs, low taxes and prosperity to every corner of Tennessee.”

Laffer is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an institutional economic research and consulting firm in Nashville. One of his earliest successes in shaping public policy was his involvement in California’s Proposition 13, the groundbreaking initiative that drastically cut property taxes in California in 1978.

Dr. Laffer received a B.A. in economics from Yale University in 1963. He received a MBA and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1965 and 1972, respectively. He has served on the faculty of the University of Chicago, University of Southern California and Pepperdine University.

Beavers Applauds Trump DACA Decision

MT. JULIET, TN- Conservative Republican Mae Beavers is standing with President Donald J. Trump and his decision to terminate the DACA program. “The Executive Order that President Barack Obama relied upon to create DACA was unconstitutional and should never have been allowed to remain in place as long as it has,” Beavers said.

“The rule of law should be the basis for our actions and policies regarding illegal immigration, and Congress should immediately take action to fund construction of the border wall, enact E-verify, reduce illegal immigration, and impose immigration limits based upon merit,” Beavers noted. “American taxpayers have carried the burden of illegal immigration long enough. President Trump is making American taxpayers and workers his top priority rather than promoting the agenda of those who have illegally entered our country, illegally worked in our country, and illegally relied upon identity fraud to cover up their illegal actions.”

Tennesseans Can Now Register To Vote Online

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is proud to officially launch the state’s new online voter registration system.
The system offers a convenient way for voters to easily register or change their address if they have moved. Counties across Tennessee can now securely receive voter registration information faster than using traditional paper registrations.
“This system meets people where they already are: online. It will improve accuracy and efficiency for voters and election officials by ensuring there are fewer errors and more accurate voter rolls. I would like to thank Sen. Yager and Rep. McCormick for their leadership in making this system a reality for Tennesseans,” Secretary Hargett said.
“Registering to vote in Tennessee is now more accessible than ever,” Sen. Ken Yager (R-Kingston) said. “Regardless of health or circumstance, Tennesseans can now register to vote from their own home. As Abraham Lincoln once said, ‘Elections belong to the people.’ I encourage all Tennesseans to take advantage of online registration and guarantee that Lincoln’s statement rings true now and for years to come.”
The new system will allow U.S. citizens with a driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security to register to vote online. Each online submission is checked against the department’s database while securely obtaining an electronic signature already on file with the state.
“In Tennessee, many of our hardworking men and women exercise their right to vote during each election cycle, and they take this responsibility very seriously,” said Rep. Gerald McCormick (R-Chattanooga). “I urge our citizens who have not registered to vote to do so online. The process is quick and easy and can be completed from the comfort of home. Registering to vote is an important step for citizens across our state to have their voices heard during the upcoming election in 2018.”
The system will also help streamline the process of changing a voter’s address. It allows someone to update their information instantly while reducing time-consuming data entry by state or county employees who traditionally had to manually type in what voters write on paper forms.
“In addition to offering a convenient way to register to vote, I’m excited that online voter registration will allow currently registered voters the opportunity to update address changes instantly. This will eliminate paperwork and additional time spent at a polling place for voters who moved but did not notify the election commission before the election,” said Smith County Administrator of Elections Yvonne Gibbs.
Tennesseans must still register online or use a paper form at least 30 days before an election to participate.

“I can’t think of a better way to start the campaign than with a family friendly event in the heart of the district,” says Rose. “I am running for Congress to help ensure the America we leave our children is better than the America our parents left us. This event is another way to show my commitment to the people of the 6th District.”

Rose is an eighth generation Tennessean, farmer, small business owner, and lifelong resident of the 6th District. His Smith County Lancaster Farm is the oldest farm in the county and one of the oldest in the state, founded in 1790. Rose’s deep roots in the area are part of his inspiration for seeking the Republican nomination for Tennessee’s Sixth Congressional District.

“I am a conservative outsider who is ready to join President Donald Trump in taking on the Washington liberals and elites for the good of my friends, family, and neighbors across the district,” says Rose.

Rose is a conservative who believes America’s immigration system is broken and will vote to build a wall along the southern border, increase patrol officers, and defund dangerous sanctuary cities. He has also pledged to work tirelessly to create and pass a plan that repeals and replaces Obamacare. Among his other areas of focus are securing Tennesseans’ Second Amendment rights and defending the lives of the unborn.

“I want to take Tennessee values to Washington,” says Rose. “This kickoff event is the perfect way to start my campaign, surrounded by friends and neighbors who embody the values America needs. I hope everyone will come out and enjoy this time of fellowship.”

John Rose commends the Capitol Commission’s decision to keep our monuments in place

John Rose is seeking the Republican nomination for the 6th Congressional District.

On Friday, the state Capitol Commission voted to keep the statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest in its place at the state capitol.

John Rose, a candidate for Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District, issued the following statement on the Capitol Commission’s decision. “I commend the Capitol Commission’s decision to keep our monuments in place, and their refusal to cave to left wing extremists. We can’t remove our monuments without erasing our history. We must show courage, like the Commission did today, in defending our heritage, and we must not succumb to political correctness.”

Rose is running for Congress to bring his conservative principles to Washington. He will put Tennesseans first, and have President Trump’s back while continuing the fight against Washington liberals and elites.

John Rose Supports President Trump’s Decision to End DACA

John Rose, a candidate for Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District, offered the following statement in support of President Trump’s decision to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. “I support President Trump’s decision to phase out DACA. We are a nation of laws, and it is about time we start enforcing them. President Trump promised to put America first, and his choice to end DACA is another example of him doing so,” Rose said. “I will continue to support the President’s vision for making America great again.”

DACA is a policy started by the Obama administration. It allows illegal immigrants who come to the United States as minors to be permitted a two-year period of deferred action from deportation.

Mae Beavers to Resign from State Senate to Focus on Governor’s Race, Announces Key Additions to Campaign

MT. JULIET, TN – Tennessee State Senator and conservative Republican candidate for Governor Mae Beavers has announced that she will resign her seat in the legislature effective Friday, September 1st at noon. Beavers also disclosed key additions to her gubernatorial campaign team.

“It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing that next Wednesday (August 30th) at noon, I plan to deliver a letter to Governor Bill Haslam and Lt. Governor Randy McNally informing them that I am resigning from the State Senate,” Beavers said. “My travels across our state to campaign for Governor should not deprive the taxpayers of the 17th Senatorial District of the devoted and consistent conservative representation they have come to expect.” By resigning now, a special election can take place later this year and ensure that the 17th District has a “fully focused representative in place the day that session begins.”

Since 2003, Beavers has represented the 17th District, composed of Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith, and Wilson (and previously Sumner and Trousdale) counties. Previously, she represented Wilson County as county commissioner from 1990-1994 and then as a state representative from 1994 through 2002. Beavers has consistently been recognized as one of the most conservative and effective legislators throughout her public service. She also received the most statewide votes as delegate for President Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican presidential primary and was chosen as Tennessee Delegation Chairman by her fellow delegates to the Republican National Convention.

“It has been a honor to serve in the Tennessee Senate for almost fifteen years,” continued Beavers. “It is therefore with a heavy heart, but also with great excitement, that I resign my Senate seat and look forward to a new phase in my campaign to be Tennessee’s next Governor. I have always taken my duties in the state legislature extremely seriously, and I have concluded that it is simply not possible for anyone to run a statewide grassroots campaign while effectively serving during legislative session.”

Beavers also announced key additions to her campaign organization saying, “I’ve been blessed to be able to assemble a top-tier team of conservative talent.”

Emerging Horizon Group will helm the campaign as general consultant. The group’s principal, Mike Shirley, has worked with the National Rifle Association, the Republican National Committee, Rick Perry’s 2012 presidential campaign, Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, and Dr. Kelli Ward’s closely watched primary challenge against John McCain in 2016. Stephen Sebastian, who most recently worked with former South Carolina Governor and now Congressman Mark Sanford, will serve as lead consultant on the race.

Osborne, Shell, & Miller Advertising, which will coordinate messaging and advertising for Beavers, has run more than one hundred political campaigns in Northeast Tennessee including Congressman Phil Roe’s historic upset victory in 2008, the first time in 58 years an incumbent congressman had been toppled in a Tennessee primary. Heavily outspent, Roe overcame a 43 point deficit in the polls in the final 5 weeks of the campaign to become the 1st District’s sole successful primary challenger since 1930 who had not previously held the seat.

The Hines Digital team will handle online fundraising, advertising, organizing, and social media. Hines’ clients have included Rick Santorum’s presidential campaign, the Young Republicans National Committee, Young Americans for Liberty, and the Republican parties of California, Florida, Maryland, and Wyoming, Theresa May’s campaign for Prime Minister, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Before becoming a Republican, Hines helped develop Howard Dean’s pioneering digital strategy in the 2004 presidential race.

Capital Square Funding Group, whose team members have worked with Ron Paul, Chris McDaniel, Ted Cruz, and Roy Moore in various capacities, will be assisting Beavers with fundraising.

“Senator Beavers’ time in public service has been marked by dignity and decency and quiet but unwavering determination,” Sebastian said. “We’re confident that her concrete convictions and amazing accomplishments will cut through the avalanche of slick campaign season rhetoric and attract the kind of conservative firepower we’ll need to win.”

Beavers concluded, “We’re running a grassroots, citizen-powered campaign to hold the line for Tennessee’s future, and it’s resonating because of my record. There are more than enough conservative voters to elect a conservative Republican statewide for the first time in Tennessee’s history.”

Chad Williams Announces Candidacy for 40th District Tennessee House of Representatives

Chad Williams officially announces his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Tennessee’s 40th District House of Representatives. Williams is a Smith County native who was raised just outside the Lancaster community and has resided in the 40th district a majority of his life. He is a proud business owner and civic contributor.

“Time and time again, I have been asked, ‘Why do you want to run?’ At this point, the district is very unhappy with the representation they have been receiving in Nashville. My roots are deep within the 40th district, and I find it disheartening to see and hear how unhappy the voters are with the results they are getting.”

“After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to take this major step in my life. Conservative values are the backbone of this district, and I will carry those same principles to Nashville. Additionally, some core foundations of our communities have been neglected, including infrastructure, public education and small businesses. I will take precedence to make those aspects top priority.”

Chad is the son of Keith and Julie Williams, also of the Lancaster community. Williams owns the Lebanon Antique Mall where his parents manage the day-to-day operations. He currently attends Tennessee Tech University where he studies political science with a concentration in legal studies. He plans to further his education in law school upon graduation in the spring of 2018.

Williams is an active member of the Southside Lions Club of Gordonsville – an affiliate of Lions Club International. He also holds membership in two Masonic Lodges in Smith County (New Middleton #249 and Carthage #14). Williams attends Lancaster United Methodist where he is active in leadership and serves the role of treasurer.

Williams will be touring the 40th district, which consists of Smith, Trousdale and portions of DeKalb and Sumner counties. He stated, “I am really excited to begin meeting with the people across the district. I am especially excited to speak with our civic and business leaders to discuss the issues facing our area.”

Information and updates about Williams’ campaign can be found at ChadWilliamsTN.com.

Currently, Tennessee’s 40th District House of Representatives’ seat is occupied by five-term incumbent Terri Lynn Weaver.

John Rose of Temperance Hall announced Thursday he will be seeking the Republican nomination for Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Rose is a small business owner and farmer who was raised in Cookeville and has spent his life in the 6th district. In fact, he is the eighth generation in his family to own and operate the family farm in DeKalb and Smith Counties.

Rose is a not a career politician and plans to use his fresh perspective to effect change on the federal level.

“We have spoken loud and clear in this district with our votes that we want conservative values at the center of our government; such as working to stop illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, repealing Obamacare, protection of our 2nd Amendment rights, and support for our military and law enforcement,” says Rose. “I will have President Trump’s back and fight the Washington liberals and elites, while putting Tennesseans first every single day.”

Aside from farming, Rose owns Boson Software and Training, an information technology company focused on helping IT professionals gain skills critical to the workforce. He also co- founded Transcender Corp., a software company that created and led the IT certification training niche for several years before the company was sold in 2000.

Rose holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in agriculture from Tennessee Tech University and Purdue University, respectively. He also earned a Law Degree from Vanderbilt University in 1993. Though he maintains his law license, Rose only practiced a short time before seizing an opportunity to follow his lifelong passion for agriculture by moving to and operating his family’s farm.

In 2002, at the age of 37, Rose was appointed Tennessee’s 33rd Commissioner of Agriculture. He has also been chairman for the Tennessee Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation and the Tennessee Tech University Foundation and is presently chairman for the Tennessee State Fair Association. The couple attends church at Buffalo Valley Church of Christ in Putnam County and are actively involved in their community, most recently hosting the 13th Annual Lancaster Independence Day Parade on their farm.

Rose cites his optimism for a better America as his impetus for running. “I know America can be great again and will be great again. It takes leaders willing to make the right call, sometimes the tough call,” said Rose. “I am prepared to take bold action in Washington that will make life better for Tennesseans across the nineteen counties that make up the sixth district.”

Rose says he has already visited with many civic and business leaders throughout the district and plans to make visits in every county in the district by the end of August. Information about his campaign can be found at http://johnrose.com/.

Tennessee’s sixth district seat is currently held by Diane Black (R – Gallatin) who announced recently that she will be running for Governor in 2018.

Drogin has deep ties to the district as his wife, Mandy, was born and raised in Hendersonville, TN, where her parents still reside. Conservative Diane Black Marches into Governor’s Race

GALLATIN, Tennessee – Diane Black first hit the stage in Tennessee as a toughminded legislator who bucked her own party’s Governor to help stop a state income tax. Now, Black herself is aiming for that job with a commitment to keep her independent streak.

The former nurse from Gallatin and the first woman in history to Chair the House Budget Committee, Black announced she will run for Governor one year from the date of the 2018 Republican primary with a video sent to Tennessee Republicans.

“Most people in politics say the right things, but never fight for the right things. They’re too meek – or maybe too weak,” Black said. “We believe in absolute truths. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. Truth is truth. God is God. A life is a life. And we don’t back down from any of it. That’s exactly the kind of Governor I will be.”

Black has a strong following among conservatives in Middle Tennessee and has never lost a primary or an election. As Budget Chair, she has been a key ally of President Donald Trump and one of Congress’s most successful pro-life legislators.

In Tennessee, Black not only helped defeat the state income tax, she passed the legislation that led to the adoption of Tennessee’s strong pro-life Constitutional amendment.

Black has succeeded by running grass-roots focused campaigns and she starts her campaign with an appeal to expand that volunteer army. “If you are ready for a Governor who fights for what’s right, then I need you on my team,” Black said to close her video.

Judd Matheny enters race for 6th Congressional District

Judd Matheny, an eight term Tennessee State Representative, formally announces that he is a candidate in the Republican primary for Congress in Tennessee’s Sixth Congressional District.

Matheny is a Veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard, and a Veteran of local and state law enforcement. He has been one of Tennessee’s most consistently conservative legislators and activists.

Judd has been on the front lines fighting the prescription drug abuse and methamphetamine epidemics in Tennessee.

He has a perfect record protecting the unborn and our Second Amendment.

Judd opposes illegal immigration and was just recently responsible for leading the successful fight to stop Nashville City Council ‘s attempt to become a sanctuary city.

During the forced attempt to implement Common Core by establishment Republicans, Matheny orchestrated a maneuver to stop the initiative with only a handful of fellow House conservatives.

Judd has been a leader in bringing awareness to the needs of our burgeoning senior population and fought relentlessly to provide better housing, transportation and healthcare for the rapidly growing demographic.

As a strong advocate in federalism and the sovereign authority of states as defined in our Constitution, Matheny has constantly worked to improve dialogue, cooperation and the restoration of the balance of powers between not only the federal and state governments but also their respective, individual branches.

As the next Congressman from Tennessee, Matheny will be the only federally elected official to have a full time staff member in Nashville to liaise on a day-to-day basis with the Tennessee General Assembly, during legislative sessions. This arrangement will help ensure Tennessee and Washington, D.C. are in constant communication and that there is cooperation between the two governing bodies. Judd Matheny has been delivering the messages and implementing the declared policies of President Trump for over 15 years:

  1. Lower taxes
  2. Fewer regulations
  3. Reined in government spending
  4. Private sector economic growth
  5. Enforcement of the rule of law
  6. Authority to the individual states
  7. Individual responsibility and economic freedom
  8. Providing strong security to protect Americans.

Matheny also believes, along with the voters in the 6th Congressional District, that our Federal Government must not be allowed to dictate Tennessee’s definition of marriage, our bathroom policies or the makings of a school lunch. Citizens of Tennessee must not be forced to follow distorted ideas of social justice from organizations that actively vow to destroy our conservative way of life by forcing these and similar policies into our daily lives, businesses and institutions. In addition, Judd does not believe we should be forced to accept refugees from America’s enemies who don’t and will not respect our values or way of life. Judd Matheny is married to his wife, Christy, of 18 years. They have two children in high school and all three have been full supporters of his years in politics.
