Thunderstorms This Afternoon/Evening

April 27, 2016

Wednesday, April 27, 2016 — 1:21 pm

This Afternoon — Mostly cloudy skies. Scattered thunderstorms possible. High: 84°. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

HRRR loop through 2 am, Thursday:

Scattered showers and thunderstorms have been forming in parts of Middle Tennessee today. This trend will continue through the afternoon. Due to the scattered nature of these storms, it’s virtually impossible to determine when or where one will pop up. You may get a thunderstorm at your house while your neighbor down the road gets nothing.

The above HRRR image shows a more concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms moving through late this evening, between 8 and 10 pm. There’s no guarantee that will happen, but be aware of the possibility if you have a ball game or practice at Crump Paris that’s scheduled to go late — in addition to the scattered storm chances we’ll have up until that period.

With the thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, there is also a small severe thunderstorm risk.

The Storm Prediction Center has given our area a Marginal Risk designation for severe weather today and tonight.

This is a low-end severe weather threat, but regardless, we should still pay attention to it. Our main threats would be damaging winds and large hail, should a storm go severe. Tornadoes are unlikely.

Storms should be out of here by early Thursday morning, setting us up for a pretty nice day!

Thursday — AM patchy fog. Partly sunny. Wake up: 62°. High: 83°. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

We could see could patchy fog in the morning, so be mindful of that on your way to work and school. Otherwise, the rest of the day will see a fair amount of sunshine and a high making it back up into the low 80s.

Dry conditions will continue into our Friday. Unfortunately, this weekend is looking very unsettled.
