We have a Marginal Risk for severe weather today.
Temperatures this morning started out on the cold side in the upper 30s but are quickly on the rise, with our high expected to top out in the mid 60s.

A line of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front will be move through around lunchtime. The Storm Prediction Center downgraded our severe weather threat area from ‘Slight’ down to just a ‘Marignal Risk’ for severe weather, or a ‘5% chance’ of severe weather within 25 miles of any given point. Damaging winds and large hail are the main concerns, with a small tornado threat also present. Overall, our risk is pretty ‘meh’, but it still bears watching.
As of 10:35 AM, the line of storms was approaching the Nashville area.

ETA for the storms appears to be around lunchtime.
We could see some residual shower and thunderstorm activity once the brunt of the line passes, but our severe threat should diminish by that point. Colder air will also begin to infiltrate the area, sending temperatures down into the low 40s by this evening and to the freezing mark by tomorrow morning.
In addition to the severe weather potential, we could also see quite a bit of rain with the storms this afternoon. Rainfall amounts could be as high as an inch or more, which could create some minor flooding concerns in a few places thanks to the ground still being saturated from all the rain we’ve received over the past few weeks.
SUMMARY:

- Can’t rule out a brief, spin-up tornado
- Heavy rainfall could create minor flooding issues
- Much colder air will filter in this evening
Keep all of this in mind as you head to the polls to vote today. If you were planning to go during your lunch break, you may want to hold off until after the storms have passed.
