Rain Possible Late Tonight

May 16, 2016

Monday, May 16, 2016 — 2:33 pm

This Afternoon/Evening — Cloudy. Cool. Temperatures in the mid 60s, falling into the upper 50s late this evening. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph.

Today is the last of a three day ‘cool’ spell, which saw much cooler-than-average temperatures in the 60s for our weekend, lingering into today. We’ll warm back up closer to average tomorrow, but not before a disturbance tries to bring some showers into our area, as depicted by the HRRR (below).

HRRR loop through 3 am:

Showers look likely beginning sometime between 10 pm and midnight, perhaps lingering through the early-to-mid morning hours of our Tuesday before moving out.  This doesn’t appear to be a very significant rainfall, with only minor amounts expected.

Tuesday — AM showers possible. Mostly cloudy. Warmer. High: 76°. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Once the morning showers move out, it appears we’ll be left with a mostly cloudy day with only a small chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm.  However, scattered shower and storm chances will become increasingly likely as we head into the evening hours, as depicted by the NAM4 (below).

If you have outdoor plans tomorrow evening, it’s probably best to keep an eye to the sky and have an umbrella handy just in case it rains.
