Do yourself a favor and get out and enjoy the weather on this ‘once in every four years’ Leap Day afternoon! It sure won’t be like this tomorrow, so take it all in as much as you can now!
Like we said, tomorrow will be a completely different story…
The Storm Prediction Center has outlined us in a Slight Risk area for severe weather tomorrow. This risk area includes much of Middle Tennessee, with us being on the northeastern fringe, with a Marginal Risk area beyond that.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms will be likely tomorrow afternoon ahead of a cold front that will send our temperatures back below seasonable averages.
A line of storms will likely form along the cold front that will move through late tomorrow afternoon/evening. Although severe weather will be possible at any point tomorrow afternoon, that line will probably have the best chance of generating severe storms, primarily in the form of damaging winds.
Speaking of damaging winds, that’s the primary mode of severe weather we are concerned about tomorrow. Both the tornado and large hail threats appear to be very low. The Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak of 2008 may come to some people’s minds when they hear about the threat of severe weather tomorrow, but rest assured, tomorrow will be nothing like that day. That doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t be weather-aware tomorrow and have a way of getting notified of severe weather watches and warning, however.
Once the cold front passes, our temperatures will drop significantly tomorrow evening and night. Even a few, no-worries snow flakes can’t be ruled out before all is said and done.
Temperatures will be below average through the end of the week before climbing back up to milder, seasonable levels this weekend.
