It’s safe to say that spring has finally sprung in Middle Tennessee (never mind what the calendar says….we’re close enough)! Temperatures the past few days have been creeping upward. That trend will continue into tomorrow with upper 70s for our afternoon high! Yeah!
‘
Wednesday — More clouds (meh). Warmer (yay!). Wake up: 55°, High: 77°. Winds S at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.
Once again, we’ll see more clouds than sun tomorrow. That’s beginning to become a recurring theme, it seems like. We’ll also have winds gusting fairly strong out of the South, as high as 20 mph at times.
Thursday — Mostly cloudy. Last dry day for a little while. Wake up: 60°, High: 78°. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
We’ll be pushing the 80° mark on Thursday. The last time we hit 80° was on November 6th, which also happened to set a new record for that day. That was a little over 4 months ago. Will we finally make it there again? It’s not out of the question!
So, if you noticed in the forecast text above, Thursday will be our “last dry day for a little while.” Why is that?
Let’s start with a look at the NAM 4km…
Scattered showers and perhaps (non-severe) thunderstorms will move into our area Thursday night/early Friday morning.
A big trough in the jet stream has been sending wave upon wave of showers and severe thunderstorms over parts of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. There, they have been having to deal with significant flooding problems as well as a few tornadoes. That trough is a slow mover, but it will gradually begin to send waves of scattered showers and thunderstorms into our area, beginning Thursday night. Fortunately, this will be a far less potent event for us than it has been for those aforementioned states, but it will mean a string of on and off dreariness each day through this weekend. We’re looking at around 1 to 2 inches of rainfall before we clear out by Monday — not enough to cause any flooding concerns, but some ballgames and practices may get rained out.
While we are anticipating a few rumbles of thunder here and there, no severe weather is expected at any point through this weekend.
