Heading into this weekend, temperatures will be on the rise, with low 60s for highs on both Saturday and Sunday.
If you have any pre-Spring plans you want to take care of before the bees and red wasps begin taking over in a couple of months, such as cleaning out that cluttered garage or storage building, this weekend will be perfect for that sort of thing.
We could see some light showers between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Not a washout, though. We’ll go with about a 30% of rain during that period.
Temperatures will continue to rise a bit as we head into the start of next week, but that warmth may come at a price…
Storm Prediction Center ‘Day 5’ Severe Weather Outlook:
This is the third day in a row that the Storm Prediction Center has been warning of the possibility for severe weather on Tuesday, something that’s quite rare for a storm system that’s still several days out. They bumped our area up from 15% to now a 30% chance for severe weather within 25 miles of any given point on Tuesday.
Models are in remarkably high agreement that we could see a squall line sometime between the afternoon and late evening hours on Tuesday thanks to a strong low pressure system passing to our north. We won’t pinpoint exact timings right now, as we are still way too far away from this event to give that sort of estimation, but just be aware that strong to severe storms will be a possibility.
The main forms of severe weather we’ll be concerned with are damaging, straight-line winds and perhaps a tornado.
When we’re this far out from a weather event, much can change between now and when the storms are forecasted to occur. Models can get it wrong, and there will surely be a great deal of fine tuning to this forecast one way or the other over the next few days. Don’t come away from reading this thinking there will for sure be severe weather, and especially be careful with what you read and share on social media during the coming days, as there will probably be more than a few non-credible sources trying to hype this event with headlines such as “Millions of People are in the Path of Life-Threatening Severe Weather” and so forth — if you see something like that, don’t share it. Just be weather-aware over the next few days and check with multiple reliable weather sources for more information as we get closer to Tuesday.
