South Carthage Sav-Way Red Sox 7
Hometown Respiratory Yankees 3
The Red Sox and Yankees met this past Tuesday night after all of Monday’s games were rained out. As the second half started, both teams looked to start it off with solid outings.
The Red Sox struck quickly and often in this one to pull away behind their starting pitcher, Bobby Parliment. They struck for four in the first and one in the second to take a 5-0 lead to the third. The Yankees cut into the lead here making it 5-1, but Parliment once again slammed the door. The Red Sox tacked on two more before heading to the fifth with a 7-1 lead. Red Sox closer Chris McKinley then came in and shut the door as the Red Sox went on to win this one 7-3.
Red Sox starting pitcher, Bobby Parliment was dominant on the mound as he worked four innings, striking out 10, while allowing only one hit. Chris McKinley came on in the fifth to shut it down for the Sox as he tossed an inning of relief giving up one hit while striking out two.
The Red Sox had five hits in the contest. Their aggressive style of play on the base paths proved good enough to win as they swiped nine bases on the night. Their offensive attack was led by Caleb Swicegood, Joey Parliment, Bobby Parliment, Austin Murphy, and Seth Bingham who each had one hit.
The Yankees mustered only one hit in the contest. Their lone hit came in the fifth inning as Draven Wilkerson singled to left field.
