Last weekend proved to be a good one for all of the Smith County Owl football programs. Smith County Middle School finished their season 4th in the district. The Smith County Youth Football team took on the Overton County Outlaws at home: The Pee-Wee Owls scored 4-0, the Junior Owls won 13-0, and the Senior Owls ended the day with a 33 – 0 victory.
The most decisive win would come at the high school level on Friday as the Owls dominated their homecoming game against Cannon County 56 – 0 for a district win. Six different players contributed to scores on the board. Bryant Goolsby (24) rushed for three touchdowns. Shemar King (6) had a receiving touchdown. John Michael Donnell started the second half by returning the kick-off into the end zone. Wesley Kemp (14) ran the ball well in the second half and scored a TD. Andrew “Woody” Gibbs scored in the fourth quarter. Ethan Elliot (94) had a perfect night kicking extra points going 8 for 8 for the night.
The Owls will have a bye-week this Friday (October 9).
