The Lady Owls took the pitch in their first district game as they hosted York Thursday evening. The goals came in fast succession during the first half from forwards Abby Smith, Katie Wright and Julia Pardue. Lady Owl defense along with a strong mid-field pushed the ball forward and kept the opposing team from reaching their goal. The smart possession play and ball skill in the offensive third was too much for the York defense to handle giving Lady Owls a 5-0 lead at halftime.
The second half of the game still had the owls holding strong as they attacked the goal again and again but this time only scoring twice with one from Abby Smith and a strong header from mid-fielder Abbi Gregory. The Lady Owls weren’t able to get the shutout as a lone goal from York put them on the board. The defense held out to finish the game as 7-1. They are now 7-0-0 for the season.
