Lady Owls Rock Stone Memorial

September 1, 2015

Smith County Lady Owls soccer coach Bubba Dunbar wanted to see how his team stacked up against AAA power house Stone Memorial Panthers. Both teams took the pitch with a perfect record in last Thursdays match up. Center backs Lena Broyles and Madison Spivey did an outstanding job of shutting down the powerful attack of Stone Memorial leading scorer Lynch.

Both teams struggled throughout the first half to find a goal. But in the 55th min of the second half Katie Wright played a passed into the eighteen to Abby Smith who then ripped a shot inside the back post to give the owls 1-0 lead. However, the Stone Memorial Panthers would not give up an, in the 67th min they scored to tie the game at 1-1. But the lady owls would defend their home field by pushing the pace of the game. Midfielders Abbi Gregory and Savannah Wright held the panther forwards at bay as lady owls took charge again when forward Julia Pardue streaked down the right side and played a pass inside the eighteen to forward Abby Smith who in 77th min scored the winning goal. This helps the lady owls stay perfect on the season with a record of 4-0-0.
