Long-time high school football rivals Gordonsville and Watertown will take the field at Robinson Stadium in Watertown this Friday night, August 21, and kick off DTC Sports’ seventh season of football coverage. Football Game Night returns to DTC3 and www.dtc3.tv at 6:45 p.m. Friday, with pre-game festivities, leading into kickoff at 7:00 p.m. Join Tom Duggin, Darvin Gill and the coach, Chris Vance, for all the coverage LIVE from Watertown.
This season’s meeting between the Tigers and Purple Tigers will be the 39th since 1976, as the two teams have met every season since that year. Gordonsville holds a 31-7 lead in the series since 1976, and have won the last five meetings in the series. Gordonsville has also won 21 of the last 23 overall meetings, dating back to the 1992 season. Watertown’s last win in the series came in 2009, when the Purple Tigers eked out a 21-19 victory over the Big Blue. Gordonsville won a 16-14 thriller last season.
