South Carthage Sav-Way Red Sox            2

On June 15th, the A’s and Red Sox tangled in what many expected to be a good contest. As both teams looked to finish off the season on a high note, this one came down to the last inning before the contest was decided.

A’s pitcher Dustin Mimms was phenomenal on the mound as he went six innings allowing only two runs. Mimms struck out six while allowing only six hits. He kept the Red Sox hitters off balance mixing up his breaking ball with his fastball before turning it over to Campbell Gregory who pitched a flawless seventh. The hard-throwing righty struck out two of the four batters he faced, one being with the tying run on second with two outs.

The A’s were also kept off balance as Red Sox pitcher Buster King tossed six innings in a tough luck loss situation. King allowed only three hits while striking out six.

Offensively, the A’s were led by Ethan Potts, Jacob Mimms, and Dustin Mimms who each had one hit in the contest. With the win, the A’s moved to 3-8 on the year, with one contest left in the season.

The Red Sox were led by Chris McKinley who had a pair of singles. The Red Sox second basemen was followed by teammates Buster King, Seth Bingham, and Cody Givens who each singled in the contest. The Red Sox finished the year at 5-6 as the Thursday and Friday games were cancelled due to weather.
