SCOTUS 4-4 VOTE DEFEATS OBAMA’S AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

June 29, 2016

With the Supreme Court’s 4-4 tie vote yesterday President Obama’s unconstitutional immigration plan was defeated. The justice’s deadlock vote means the lower court’s decision is upheld ending the administration’s attempt to provide amnesty by executive order to millions of illegal aliens. President Obama acknowledged the court’s decision, but was visibly displeased. Yesterday’s decision was seen as a win for the states and their sovereignty, the rule of law and the Constitution.

“While yesterday’s decision by the Supreme Court can be seen as a win for the 10th Amendment and the “rule of law” it illustrates how crucial the upcoming presidential election is for our nation. When 4 out of 8 justices vote that the President has the ability to create law through executive order it becomes clear how close we are to losing our republic” said Joe Carr.

The 4-4 tie vote sets no national precedent but leaves in place the ruling by the lower court. In this case, the federal appeals court in New Orleans that said the Obama administration lacked the authority to shield up to 4 million immigrants from deportation and make them eligible for work permits without approval from Congress.

Carr went on to say, “This is the one issue more than any other where I have fought and won. Unlike my opponent, Congressman Black, who voted to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. I have written and passed some of the toughest illegal immigration laws in the country. Including but not limited to; E-Verify, SAVE, No Sanctuary Cities, Identity Theft and a resolution honoring Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to name just a few”.

Former State Representative Joe Carr is a lifelong resident of Tennessee serving 3 terms in the Tennessee General Assembly (2008-2014). Joe Carr is a congressional candidate in Tennessee’s Sixth District.
