
The Angels in Heaven are rejoicing that one of their own has arrived. Ms. Wilma Shaver age 95 of South Carthage was pronounced deceased by Gentiva Hospice of Lebanon at 4:50 a.m. Friday morning July 12, 2024 at The Pavilion in Lebanon where she had made her home since August 4th of 2020.
Mrs. Shaver is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Family and friends assembled at the Wilson County Memorial Park for a graveside on Monday morning July 15th. Following the service, which will be officiated by Eld. Dave Silcox, she was laid to rest beside her Godly Mother at the Wilson County Memorial Park.
The family will not receive friends at Sanderson, but will receive friends following the graveside service in Lebanon.
Born Wilma Lee Oxford in Parsons in Decatur County, Tennessee on November 21, 1928, she was the last born of six children, five daughters and a son, and was the last surviving child of the late James Ira Oxford who died at the age of 77 on August 5, 1975 and Lela Jewel Fiddler Oxford Hawkins who died at the age of 79 on March 4, 1980.The five siblings preceding her in death were; Edith Allendale Oxford Quinn who died September 16, 1954 at the age of 37, Glenn Lee Oxford who died on May 13, 1975 at the age of 52, Gladys Mai Oxford Ledbetter who on died July 9, 1983 at the age of 64, Lois Julia Oxford Chadwick who died on November 26, 2010 at the age of 89, and Arlou Oxford Lucas who died on August 3, 2013 at the age of 88.
Mrs. Shaver was of the Missionary Baptist faith and was saved at her home at the age of 62.She enjoyed reading her Bible and talking with and teaching others about her Lord.
Mrs. Shaver retired in 1985 from Reichold Chemicals.
Surviving Mrs. Shaver is a daughter with whom she made her home for eight years before entering The Pavilion in Lebanon, Pam Craighead and husband Clifton of South Carthage; three grandchildren, Heather Lambert and husband Dewayne of South Carthage, Tim Wright and wife Shelby of the Hiwassee Community, Lorie Underwood and husband Joe of the Riddleton Community; seven great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
