Ms. Shirley Watson Braswell, known to many as Granny, age 83 of Carthage, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Ms. Braswell was born February 19, 1941 in the Club Springs Community of Smith County, TN, a daughter of the late Dewey Odell Watson and Eva Athaleen Bennett Watson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Pat Watson Jones and Joyce Ann Watson Vaden.
Shirley was raised in Congo Bottom and was a member of Gordonsville High School Class of 1959. After high school, she worked as an LPN for Smith County Memorial Hospital and the Petty Green Clinic. Later she worked at RobertShaw and Dana for several years. She finished her career with Zena Corporation after working there for 20 years. Shirley was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Ms. Braswell is survived by two children; Renee (Steve) Armistead of Club Springs, TN, and Jeff (Sharon) Braswell of Watervale, TN. Grandchildren; Brooke Armistead, Brandi (Serman) Lim, Brittany (Caleb) Reese, Monica Braswell and Cody (Jamie) Braswell. Great-grandchildren; Lane Braswell, Lexi Braswell, Hayden Lim, Sierra Lim, Hudson Lim, Bentley Lim, Callahan Lim, Ellie Kate Reese, and Maggie Reese. Sisters; Linda (Billy) Lancaster of Hickman, TN, Sanda (Glen) Vaden of Gordonsville, TN, and Teresa Goolsby of Milton, TN.
To celebrate the life of Ms. Shirley Watson Braswell, the family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 4PM until 7PM. The celebration will conclude with a prayer service at 7PM by Steve Armistead.
