Ms. Georgia Mae Burk age 76 of the Buffalo Valley Community was pronounced deceased at 7:35 p.m. Sunday evening March 1, 2026 shortly after arrival at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Emergency after becoming gravely ill at her St. Mary Road in Putnam County.

Mrs. Burk was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where she had prearranged to be cremated. Following a viewing for the family, she was transported to theCumberland Family Services in Algood for cremation.

Mrs. Burke was born Georgia Mae Gaines in Anderson in Anderson County, South Carolina on September 10, 1949 and was the last surviving of two daughters of the late George Washington Gaines and Carrie Bell Gaines.

Her husband, Ben Burk, preceded her in death as did her only sister, Emma Gaines Cherry,

Mrs. Burks daughter, Carolyn Yvonne Harris Carter, preceded her in death on October 21, 2021 at the age of 53.

Mrs. Burk was a former employee at the Meritor Corporation in Gordonsville.

She attended the Chestnut Mound Christian Fellowship Church.

Surviving is her son, Bronson Harris of the Riddleton Community; two grandchildren, Brittany Lynn Ramsey oof Ohio and Alexander O’Neal Lattimore of Ohio; God Son, Joe Willingham and wife Misty Watts of Gainesboro; and one great-grandchild.
