Mrs. Nancy Cox

Mrs. Nancy Cox, age 77 of Gordonsville, passed peacefully from her earthly life into eternity at 8:15 p.m. Christmas Eve December 24, 2021 at the Gordon Drive home of her daughter, with which she had recently relocated from Florida because of failing health.

Mrs. Cox was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and at her direction will be cremated. This was performed at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Cox will be conducted at a time and day to be announced. The celebration will be at the New Level Church in Carthage with the Pastor, Bro. Jamey Duke, officiating.

Born Nancy Anne Wager in Niskayuna in Schenectady County, New York on May 3, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John and Nancy Wager and the adoptive daughter of the late Michael Edward Buchannan who died in 1992 at the age of 72 and Margaret Corigan Buchannan who died in 1971 at the age of 51.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt Cox.

Two sons preceded Mrs. Cox in death, Frank Edward Morales on August 29, 1984 and John Fitzgerald Morales on October 2, 2020.

Mrs. Cox was also preceded in death by a grandson.

Mrs. Cox was a 1952 graduate of Our Lady of Christians Academy in Albany, New York.

Her early career was working with handicapped children and being a housewife and Mother to her five children.

Mrs. Cox was a born again Christian.

Surviving are her two daughters, Marilyn DaSilva of Gordonsville, Francesca Ercan of the country of Turkey; a son, Michael Edward Morales of Tampa, Florida; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Branagan of the Villages, Florida; brother, Michael Edward Buchanan of Albany, New York; eight grandchildren.
