Mrs. Mattie Lucy Smith
Mrs. Mattie Lucy Smith, age 80, of Carthage, died Thursday afternoon, August 2, 2018, at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro.
She is survived by: 8 children, Vivian Morgan and husband Edward of Anderson, South Carolina, Ricky Smith and wife Aja of Carthage, Anita Baird and husband Kenneth of Murfreesboro, Eli Smith Jr and wife Marian Rochelle of Murfreesboro, Daphne Peek and husband Ricky of Murfreesboro, Ann Sloan of Murfreesboro, Ben Smith and wife LaShara-Varnell of Memphis, Dorschelle Carney and husband James of Murfreesboro; brother, Bobby (Buck) King and wife Lola of Carthage; 2 sisters, Patsy Link of Nashville, Janie Carter of Watertown; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where her services will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon, August 7, at 1:00 PM. Sis. Demetria Bowers and Rev. Larry Bowers will officiate. Interment in the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
Serving as active pallbearers are: Kenneth Baird, James Carney, Ricky Peek, Gene Sloan, Edward Morgan, Barry King; Honorary pallbearers are: Kody Dixon, Malcolm Dixon, Nathan Dixon, Demarco Smith, Michael Bush, Maurice Bush, Tevin Baird, Eric King, Johnny Carter, Stevie Carter;; Flower Girls are: Brianna Hall, Tenesha Carney, Toni McGill, Bryce Smith, Phanesha Dowell, Sheila Link.
Visitation will begin on Monday afternoon at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Tuesday from noon until the service at 1:00 PM.
