Mrs. Mary Evelyn Key, age 86, of Carthage, TN, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Mrs. Key was born October 10, 1938 in Carthage, TN, a daughter of the late Marshall Frank Silcox and Mary Ruby Hensley Silcox. She was also preceded in death by Siblings; Hattie Jane Carr, Ronald Allen Silcox, and Lawrence Wayne Silcox. She was a Top Ten Student and 1956 graduate of Smith County High School. Mrs. Key worked at the Lebanon Woolen Mills and Carthage Shirt Factory. She also worked as a security guard for the State of Tennessee and Bridgestone. Her last job was at Hardees in Carthage. She was a longtime member of the Carthage United Methodist Church. Mrs. Key loved her family dearly.
Mrs. Key is survived by Children; Donald (Vickey) Key of Watervale, TN, Steve (Victoria) Key of South Carthage, TN, Bryan Keith (Lesia) Key of Brush Creek, TN, and Danny (Margie) Key of Popes Hill, TN. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Siblings; Albert (Joyce) Silcox, M.B. Silcox, Larry “Tootie” (Janice) Silcox, and Marsha (Bryan) Salisbury.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Key are scheduled to be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 1PM with Bro. Lance Key and David Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Smith County Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials be made to the Church of God Community Food Pantry.
