Julia was born in Wichita, Kansas on March 8, 1993, to Michael and Michelle Sheffield. She has four biological siblings, Jesse Sheffield, Erica Warner, Michael Sheffield, and Barbara Peters. Julia came into state custody at the age of five. She was adopted by Steven and Shelley Drummond at the age of 10 and she changed their lives forever. She had such a vivacious zeal for life and a radiant smile, of which she earned her nickname “Sunshine”. She was the life and party of the family. She was able to always see the best in every person and situation. Julia found the love of her life, Justin Todd Starnes, well before her parents were ready, at the age of 15; they were married her senior year of High School on January 15, 2011. A year and a half later, Julia gave birth to a beautiful, healthy son, Hagen Todd Starnes, on June 27, 2012. On September 11, 2014, Julia gave birth to her “mini-me”, Emarie Jade Starnes. Julia’s husband, Justin, is in the military and was called to action for our nation in May 2018. During his time of deployment, Julia’s inner super woman took charge to take care of her children, her husband, and every aspect of her household with a resolve that only was pure Julia.

Julia was called home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2018 around 4:00 p.m. Through Julia’s life and experiences, we all continue to learn from her examples of what being a woman of faith, a mother, and a wife is. May we all learn from her, to always live Wide Open, with no strings attached, as she lived her life every single day. We as a family pray we can stand firm for the values and beliefs we stand fast to and live in a way that blesses others as much as Julia did. Be a light unto others, and the next time you light a candle, remember her as the light she was in your and others lives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Peterson, Percy and Myrtle Johnson.

In addition to her husband, children and parents, she is survived by her other siblings, Brandi Evans and Jasmine DeVillanueva; grandparents, James and Paula Johnson; Jim and Cassie Drummond; Lloyd and Hollie Johnson.
