
52-year-old Mrs. Bea Davis, of the McClures Bend Community, was pronounced deceased at 4:44 p.m. Friday afternoon September 13, 2024 from complications following open heart surgery. She was a patient at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she was admitted August 31st.
Funeral services were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon September 17th with her pastor, Pastor Steve Warren, officiating. Burial will followed in the Garden of the Cross at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
She was born Myrtle Beatrice Watkins on December 1, 1971 to the late Myrtle Cornelius Watkins in Bay Springs, in Jasper, County, Mississippi.
She was a 1991 graduate of Bay Springs Academy in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
At the Smith County Courthouse on April 21, 1991, she was united in marriage to McClures Bend Community native, David Shannon Davis.
Mrs. Davis had a long career in the restaurant industry beginning as a waitress at the former Buford’s Restaurant in the Defeated Creek Community as a teenager. At the time of her becoming ill, she was employed at Subway in Carthage as a sandwich preparer.
She was a member of the Faith Chapel Ministries in Baxter.
She never met a stranger, had a zest for life and a perpetual smile and was always jovial.
Surviving in addition to her husband Shannon of over thirty-three years are their two children, a daughter, Kim Davis of South Carthage; a son, Dakota Davis and wife Bailey of the Difficult Community and their three children, Hazel Grace Davis, Willow Fay Davis and Stella Journey Davis.
