Mrs. Alberta Enoch Oakley, age 101 of New Middleton, died Friday evening, July 26, 2019, at Smith County Health Care.
She is survived by: 2 daughters, Paula Oakley Armistead and husband Roy of New Middleton, Nancy Oakley Carter and husband Stites Ray of Carthage; 4 grandchildren, George McDonald and wife Susan of Riddleton, Kim Armistead Lamont and husband Steve of New Middleton, Greg Armistead of Hermitage, Tracy Carter and wife Lorie of Carthage; 8 great-grandchildren, Celia McDonald Dillon and husband Lucas of Lebanon, Sarah McDonald Owen and husband Dr. Casey Owen of Lebanon, Emily Lamont and Lauren Lamont of New Middleton, Taylor Carter of Knoxville, Charlie, Alex and Sam Carter of Carthage; 4 step-great-grandchildren, MeKenzie Meadows and Colton Meadows, Neely and Logan Celsor; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Coley Mae Dillon and Calvin Carter.
Mrs. Oakley is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral home. Her services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, July 28, at 3:00 PM at the New Middleton Baptist Church. Bro. B. J. Thomason and Bro. Mark Stinnett will officiate. Interment in the Brush Creek Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers are: George McDonald, Dr. Casey Owen, Ronnie Bussell, Tracy Carter, Taylor Carter, Greg Armistead, Steve Lamont.
Honorary pallbearers are the deacons and their wives of New Middleton Baptist Church; Jerry Baker and wife Lucy, Wayne Long and wife Judy, Mike Scudder and wife June, Luke Stinnett and wife Stephanie, Tige Ballard and wife Melanie, Bryan Wright and wife Regina, Danny Baker and wife Aundrenia.
Visitation will begin on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and on Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM.
The family has requested memorials to: Chris Carter Scholarship Fund or New Middleton Baptist Church Growth Fund.
