Sammy Richard Haynes age 54 of Brush Creek, died Sunday Aug. 23, 2026 at Riverview Hospital in Carthage. Born Oct. 15, 1971, he was the son of the late Ben Thomas Haynes and Dorothy Mae Driver Haynes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lynn Haynes and a niece, Jennifer Haynes.
Sammy attended Watertown High School, he was a 27 year employee of Performance Food Group and was currently working for REI in Lebanon. He was a hotrod enthusiast and loved dirt track racing.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Shively and stepchildren, Emily and Joseph; sister, Melonee Payne and her husband, Terry of Brush Creek; nephews, Brody Payne and Nicholas (Emma) Payne; niece, Angela Haynes of Crossville; great niece, Alisa Haynes and great nephew, Lofton Payne.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Fabron Nicholson officiating. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services on Thursday. Pallbearers, Joshua Brown, Koby Watts, Dylan Mallory, Bubba Oliver, Tony McClain, David Reveese. Honorary pallbearers, Brody and Nick Payne. Interment will follow at Commerce Cemetery.
