Mr. Roger Dale Glover

A longtime South Carthage resident, Mr. Roger Dale Glover age 69 of Springfield, Tennessee, was pronounced deceased at 5:31 a.m. Wednesday morning May 29, 2024 at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he was hospitalized May 24, following a period of declining health.

Eld. Stephen Brooks assisted by Eld. Barney Allison officiated the 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon June 2nd funeral services at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Glover Family lot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

The Glover family will receive friends on Saturday June 1st at Sanderson in Carthage from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12 noon until the 3 p.m. services.

One of two sons, he was born Roger Dale Glover on October 26, 1954 in Carthage and was the son of the late Raybern Bridges Glover who died at the age of 74 on December 3, 1999 and Lillie Doris White Glover who died at the age of 89 on September 14, 2019.

Mr. Glover was a member of the 1972 graduating class at the Smith County High School where he had a triple major in science, social studies and business. Active in sports while at S. C. H. S., he played football his last three years, basketball his freshman and sophomore years, was in the Pep club all four years and lettered in the ā€œCā€ club his junior and senior years. His junior and senior years he was in the Spanish club, was a member of the junior play cast and was the high school entertainment chairmen his senior year.

At the Springfield Wedding Chapel on December 29, 1998, he was united in marriage to the former Eugenia Lee Vaughan of Springfield.

Mr. Glover retired in 2020 as chief engineer for the Homewood Suites Hospitality Group in Nashville.

He and his wife attended the Grace Baptist Church in Springfield and as a child his family were members of the Carthage Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost twenty six years is his son, Randy Glover and wife Kristie; a brother, Ronnie Glover, all of South Carthage, daughter, Carla Caughey and husband Daniel of Greenbrier; seven grandchildren, Taylor Glover, Ashlyn Glover, Colton Windham, Cody Windham, Savannah Crowder and husband Ryan, Shelby Salts, and Scarlett McGoldrick; two great grandsons, Warren and Wyatt Crowder.
