Mr. Joe P. Lane Jr, age 80 of South Carthage, died Wednesday afternoon, May 10 at Vanderbilt Wilson in Lebanon. He is survived by: wife, Benita McFarlin Lane; 3 sons, Joe Patton Lane III of Carthage, Alan Lane and wife Angela of the Rome Community, Brian Lane and wife Jennifer of Murfreesboro; brother, John B. Lane of Murfreesboro; 4 grandchildren, Allison Smith and husband J. R. of Double Springs, Thomas Alan Lane of Cookeville, William Lane and Madeline Lane both of Murfreesboro.
Mr. Lane is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his service will be conducted on Saturday morning, May 13 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Monica Mowdy will officiate. A Military Chapel Service will be conducted by American Legion Post #57. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery 519 Greenland Drive, Murfreesboro 37130. Serving as pallbearers are: Stan Webster, Scotty Grisham, Neal Lowery, Ben McFarlin, Trey McFarlin, William Lane, Thomas Lane, Larry Hackett; Honorary pallbearers, Hardees Breakfast Boys.
Visitation at the Carthage Chapel will begin on Friday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.
The family has requested memorials to the Carthage United Methodist Church Building Fund.
