Mr. Gordon Hughes, age 86 of the Smith Branch Community, died Monday afternoon, March 28 at Riverview Regional in Carthage. He is survived by: companion, Gwendolyn Potts; children, Lisa Tousley and husband Joe of Defeated Creek, Terry Hughes and wife Donna of Funns Branch, Melissa Stewart of Defeated Creek; step-son, James “Trapp” Hughes of Haydenburg, , 2 sisters, Mabel Spivey of Carthage, Evelyn Burgess of Carthage; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hughes is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral home where his service will conducted on Wednesday afternoon, March 30 at 3:00 PM. Bro. Frank Bratcher will officiate. A Military Chapel service will be conducted by American Legion Post # 57 of Carthage. Interment at Smith County Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are: Billy Ray Fann, Marty McPherson, Rex Stilwell, Terry Hughes, Marty Newsom, Jimmy Durham.
Visitation on Wednesday only from 12:00 noon until service time at 3:00 PM.
