Mr. Edward Wilson “Buddy” Christian
Mr. Edward Wilson (Buddy) Christian, age 69, of the Gordonsville Community passed away at Riverview Regional Hospital early on Friday Morning, December 11, 2015, after an extended battle with cancer.
Mr. Christian was born May 5, 1946 in Smith County TN to his parents the late Leonard Wilson and the late Azzie Lorene Lynch Christian. He was the second of three children.
Mr. Christian attended school in Carthage through the eighth grade and started high school before beginning work in the log woods with his good neighbor and friend, Mr. Wilber Wilkerson. Then at 18 years of age he began working for Nashville Wire Products in Lebanon TN where he remained for 45 years as supervisor over the paint shop for much of that time.
On May 4, 1975 he met Miss Joanna Marie Carter of Red Boiling Springs. The two of them hit it off right away and were married within two months of that same year on July 2. They remained married for 40 years until the time of Mr. Christian’s death, and were blessed with two sons.
Mr. Christian was saved as a teenager while attending services with his neighbor Mr. Wilkerson. It wasn’t until after he began dating Miss Carter that he joined Sun Rise Missionary Baptist Church. Elder James Oliver baptized him at the end of the revival in 1975. He remained a faithful member of Sun Rise until his death.
He is survived by his wife Joanna Carter Christian, his two sons and their families. James Edward with wife Jenna Green Christian, and their son Joseph Edward. Timothy Hogan with wife Bonnie Smith Christian and their children Jacob Hunter, Macy Beth, and Benjamin Kerr.
He is also survived by sister Kathleen Rodriguez, his brother Ray and wife Mary Christian, and their children.
Funeral services for Mr. Christian are scheduled to be conducted from the Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church in Macon County on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 1PM. Bro. Tucker Smith Will officiate with burial following in the Sunrise Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Christian begins Sunday, December 13 at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Monday from 3:00 Pm till 8:00 PM. On Tuesday December 15, visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will last till time of service at 1:00 at Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church, in Macon County TN.
