Mr. Charlie Wilson Whitehead
Mr. Charlie Wilson Whitehead, age 86, of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Mr. Whitehead was born February 15, 1931 in Cookeville, TN, the son of the late Albert Whitehead and Robbie Bennett. He was also preceded in death by sisters; Mary Elizabeth McKinney Cummings on June 23, 2010 and Annie Mai Whitehead on July 30, 1991. He married Melba Jean Roark on August 30, 2001 and she also preceded him in death on February 17, 2004. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army, 14th Armored Calvary Division from 1951 to 1953. He worked for H.B. Hunt Construction Company. Mr. Whitehead was of the Baptist belief.
Mr. Whitehead is survived by four sons; David Whitehead of Lafayette, TN, Ronald (Stephanie) Whitehead of Lebanon, TN, Danny Whitehead of Indianapolis, IN, and Billy Whitehead of Lebanon, TN. Step-Children; Darlene (Pete) Volz of Fairfield, OH, Regina Purkey of Dayton, OH, and Sue (Randy) Baker of Dayton, OH. Sister; Jean (Douglas) Powell of Carthage, TN. Six Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren, Seven Step-Grandchildren, and Four Step-Great Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Whitehead are scheduled to be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2PM with Eld. James Thomas Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.
Visitation with the Whitehead family will be held at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday from 10AM until the service time at 2PM
