Billy Virgil Fann, lovingly known to family and friends as “Rooster”, age 84, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, July 12, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.
Billy was born on Friday, September 19, 1941, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Virgil Fann and the late Mindy Ford. He shared 51 1/2 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his wife Mary Kathleine Fann, building a lifetime of cherished memories together.
Billy never asked for much in life. He was happiest enjoying the simple things- singing karaoke with family and friends, listening to, and singing songs by Elvis Presley, playing a friendly game of pool, or gathering around for a cookout surrounded by people he loved. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, and his presence will be deeply missed every single day.
Billy is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Mary Kathleine Fann, 2 sons; Shane (Darlene) Fann, Billy Ray Fann, daughter; Tracy Fann, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Jerry Fann, Eddie Fann, and 1 sister, Jean Case.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his son, Elvis Brooks Fann, 3 brothers, Charley Fann, Cecil Fann. and Frank Fann.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:45 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Granville Cemetery, located at 196 Holleman Bend Ln, Granville, Tennessee 38564.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
