John Louis Taylor passed away at his home at the age of 90, surrounded by family, and he will be profoundly missed.

Though a longtime resident of Louisiana, John grew up on a farm in Smith County and remained a Tennessee farm boy at heart throughout his life, always maintaining a deep connection with nature. He served his country in the Korean war and went on to earn a teaching degree before pursuing a career in sales. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Thelma and Joe Louis Taylor; brothers, Ed and Hubie Taylor; in-laws Estelle and Waldon Norwood, Judie and Barlow Gilbert, Glen Frye, Neva Taylor; many aunts, uncles, cousins, treasured family members, and several beloved pets. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Norwood Taylor; sister, Beverly Frye; daughters, Teresa (Steve) Kent, Maria Hinson, Ashley (Randal) Ledbetter, and Jamie Taylor; grandchildren, Greg, Jessica, Nicole, Matthew, Taylor, Daniel, and Nathaniel; nieces and nephews, Jayne Ann (Ron), Robert (Julie), Joe (Lynn), Michael (Jill) Troy (Kirsty), and Tasha (John); 5 great-grandchildren, and a number of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, several supportive neighbors, and his beloved dog, Tucker.
