Two Arrested in New Middleton for Outstanding Warrant, Evading Arrest

July 15, 2015

On Friday, July 10, Sgt. Steve Babcock of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to New Middleton Baptist Church for motor vehicle assistance. Upon arrival, Babcock spoke to Randy Michaelson, 49, Wileshire, OH, who stated that his van’s fan belt had come off. Babcock ran the IDs of Michaelson and the passenger, Jami Anderson, 33, Vine Grove, KY. Both licenses were suspended and Anderson had an active warrant out of Kentucky. She was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant, and Michaelson was ordered to stay in front of the vehicle.

Michaelson ran from Sgt. Babcock, but was caught two houses away and placed arrest for driving on a suspended license and evading arrest.

Anderson gave permission for a vehicle search. During the search, a glass jar containing .69oz of marijuana, a pill bottle containing .04oz of marijuana, two marijuana cigarettes, and a black pipe were found.

Anderson and Michaelson were transported to the Smith County Jail for processing.
