Smith County Youth Farmers & Ranchers host hamburger fundraiser at Sav Way on July 12th
July is Beef Month! Please join the Smith County Young Farmers and Ranchers Friday, July 12th at 5:00 pm at Sav Way. We will be providing FREE hamburger plates. We will also have steak samples and giveaways!
All beef has been provided by local producers here in Smith County.

The Dog and Cat Show at the Smith County Fair was held on Saturday morning, July 6th. Several dogs participated in the the show sponsored by Smith County Animal Clinic. Over a dozen dogs participated in seven divisions.

Commodities Distribution Tuesday, July 23rd 9-11a.m.
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Smith County on Tuesday, July 23, from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Smith County Agricultural Center. Sign-up will be available at the distribution site.

Smith County Mr. & Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair Pageants 2024
The 2024 Mr. and Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair Pageants were held at the Smith County Fair on Saturday , July 6, 2024. The pageants were divided into three divisions include boys and girls from each of the age ranges 0-6 months, 7-15 months and 16-23 months.
Two boys 0-6 months participated. Mr. Baby Fairest of the Fair (0-6 months) Winner was Becket Gray Baker and 1st Runner-up, Jett Allen Craighead.
Seven girls 0-6 months participated. Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair (0-6 months) Winner was Mary Mae Louise Deason, 1st Runner-up was Reba Jayne Horton and 2nd Runner Up was Sadie Belle Sircy. Sadie Belle Sircy also won Peoples Choice. Remi Saige Watts won Most Photogenic for girls 0-6 months.
Four boys 7-15 months participated. Mr. Baby Fairest of the Fair (7-15 months) Winner Rilee Allan Freeman, 1st Runner-up was Ryder Zane Hess and 2nd Runner-up was a tie with Daxton Forrester and Ashton Dewaye Key.
Nine girls 7-15 months participated. Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair (7-15 months) Winner was Anna Vae Oaklee Cheatham, 1st Runner-up was Hallie Blair Taylor and 2nd Runner-up was Merci Gillispie. Hindrix Ray Anderson won Peoples Choice and Merci Gillispie won Most Photogenic.
Ten girls 16-23 months participated. Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair (16-23 months) Winner was Sadie Wade 1st Runner-up was Mya Elliott Hodnett and 2nd Runner-up was Makenna Paige Farley. Scarlett Rose Candler won Peoples Choice and Delta Faye Ward won Most Photogenic.
U.S. Representative John Rose Announces July Local Office Hours
U.S. Representative John Rose’s (TN-6) district staff will hold a series of local office hours for constituents to connect directly with caseworkers and receive assistance with federal agencies throughout the month of July.
During the local office hours, district staff will be available to answer questions and assist constituents with federal casework, such as social security and veterans’ benefits, steps for obtaining a passport, and more. Local office hours occur monthly. If you have questions, please contact one of Representative Rose’s offices so a staff member may help you.
“We are ready to assist constituents with federal casework and welcome anyone with questions to sit down with staff,” said Representative Rose. “My goal is to make the expertise of my staff and the resources of this office easily accessible to every person I represent.”

Living Water Ministries hosts Back to School Giveaway
Living Water Ministries will host a Back to School Giveaway on July 13th from 12-2 p.m. at the pavilion located at the Church on 13 New Middleton Highway in Gordonsville, TN. Backpacks, school supplies and clothing will be available at no charge.
Smith County Miss and Mister Toddler Fairest of the Fair Pageants 2024
The 2024 Miss and Mister Toddler Fairest of the Fair Pageants were held at the Smith County Fair on Wednesday night, July 3rd, 2024.
Mr. Toddler Fairest of the Fair 2024 was Crew Malone and 1st Runner up was Waylon Ray Lancaster.
The winner of the 2024 Smith County Miss Toddler Fairest of the Fair Pageant was Collins Everleigh Johnson, 1st Runner Up was Wylie Denney and 2nd Runner Up was Rosalyn Pearl Horton.
Rosalyn Horton was also crowned the People’s Choice Award and Most Photogenic was awarded to Rayvn Stallings.
Eleven girls participated in the 2-3 year-old age division and 2 contestants participated in the 2-3 year-old boys division.

Second Harvest Mobile Food Truck Friday, July 12th
The Second Harvest Food Truck will be at the Smith County Agriculture Center on Friday, July 12, 2024. The truck generally arrives by approximately 9 a.m. Volunteers work to unload the truck and get the food ready for pick-up. Food is distributed until it is gone. Cars line up around the Ag Center early. Those hoping to receive food at this distribution are encouraged to be in line no later than 9 a.m.
The food trucks are sponsored by the Hunger Relief Fund of Smith County and grants from Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle TN. Churches, businesses and individuals donate to the hunger relief fund all year. Generally two dates are scheduled each month. VBS at Carthage Full Gospel July 10-12, 2024
“Growing in the Sun” will be the theme of Vacation Bible School hosted by Carthage Full Gospel Church July 10-12, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. The Church is located at 109 First Avenue W, Carthage, TN. VBS is available for youth 4 years old – eighth grade.

2 contestants participated in the 4-6-year-old age group including Kash Restrepo and Layton Stallings.
The winner of the 2024 Smith County Mister Tiny Fairest of the Fair Pageant was Kash Restrepo. 1st Runner Up was Layton Stallings.

There were 16 contestants in the 4-6 year old age group who participated in the Miss Tiny Fairest of the Fair Pageant.
The winner of the 2024 Smith County Miss Tiny Fairest of the Fair Pageant was Keagan Rae Jenkins. 1st Runner Up was Taylor Swain and 2nd Runner Up was Kenna Rae Carter.
Kenna Rae Carter won the People’s Choice Award and Most Photogenic was awarded to Elsie Apple.

The winner of the 2024 Smith County Miss Petite Fairest of the Fair Pageant was Tilly Gene Boze, 1st Runner Up was Savannah Tippy and 2nd Runner Up was Sadie Mae Comstock.
There were 14 contestants in the Miss Petite Fairest of the Fair pageant.Mattie Farley Hix won the People’s Choice Award and Most Photogenic was awarded to Kylene Ayer.

Eleven lovely tweens ages 10-12 participated in the Junior Fairest of the Fair Pageant. Most Photogenic was awarded to Aubree Rae White and People’s Choice was Kennadie Hensley.
The winner of the 2024 Smith County Miss Junior Fairest of the Fair Pageant was Kierra Rayne Jenkins, 1st Runner Up was Aubree Rae White and 2nd Runner Up was Myla Elizabeth Grace Whittemore. Most Photogenic was awarded to Aubree White and People’s Choice was Kennadie Hensley.

Seventeen ladies participated in the Miss Fairest of the Fair Pageant. Carly Turner won Most Photogenic, Claire Massey won Miss Congeniality and Bailey Stewart won People’s Choice.
