(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – On Monday, August 31, Smith County 911 received a call of an overturned tractor-trailer truck around the 263 East mile marker.
The driver of the truck was Gary Gibson. Gibson was driving a 2000 International truck, pulling a 53′ trailer. The truck was owned by IWC (Institutional Wholesale Company). IWC is based out of Cookeville, Tennessee. The truck was hauling a load full of yogurt.
Trooper Chris Delong of the Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the scene. According to Trooper Delong, the truck drifted off of the left side of the road, at which time the driver over corrected causing the truck to overturn and slide off of the shoulder.
The accident caused the interstate to be partially shut down for over 6 hours, as crews unloaded the cargo and moved the truck and trailer off of the scene.
