Stephen Taylor, 62, a resident of the Rock City community, was pronounced dead at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage after a single vehicle accident on June 28th. The accident occurred on Kenny’s Bend Lane outside of the Rome community early Sunday morning.
Taylor’s 2003 Dodge Caravan struck a tree just off the roadside. Currently, the cause of death is still under investigation. No brake marks or signs of yielding could be found to suggest that Taylor had slowed before impact. Smith County Emergency Management Service, Rescue Squad, Sheriff’s Department, and Sheriff Steve Hopper responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Tennessee Highway Patrol officer, Troy Withers, worked the wreck and will be the chief investigator.
