Friday, June 12th, marked the first of two installments for the Defeated Creek Bluegrass Festival. The festival is held annually at the Defeated Creek Mariana. The evening started off around 7:00 p.m. with music from Tennessee Central. Throughout the rest of the night, dancing and music performances were given by Rhythm-N-Motion along with Missionary Ridge, respectively. Other activities included craft vendors and kid events.
Day two of the festival started on the following Saturday morning with an antique tractor show. The evening activities were similar to that of Friday. Bluegrass Solutions took the stage as that evening’s musical guest followed by The Bilbreys. Rhythm-N-Motion were once again the dancing entertainment for the night. All eyes were on the stage for the highlight of the night when the festival was concluded by the Defeated Creek Fire Department. Four Defeated Creek Firefighters (Brandon Rigsby, Charlie Carter, Daniel Paget, and Jason Powell) took the stage in full 150+ pound gear. The quartet danced to the tune of a bluegrass classic.
The festivities both nights lasted until near 11:00 p.m. The fund raiser was a success with all money raised going to benefit the Defeated Creek Fire Department. This marked a 20 year plus mark for the festival with more years to come. See the enclosed videos at the bottom of the page for highlights of the festival.
