(Smith County Insider) Turkey Creek Community – Jackie Donald Colton Jr., age 51 of Carthage, fled the scene of a single vehicle accident on Thursday, July 2. Colton was traveling south on Highway 263, commonly known as Turkey Creek Highway, in a blue 1991 Ford Ranger. Colton ran off the right side of the road into a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn.
When authorities arrived, they discovered Colton had fled the scene of the accident. Empty beer containers were found inside the vehicle. Warrants were issued for Colton’s arrest, both for leaving the scene of an accident and for driving on a suspended license.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer Brandon Jackson worked the scene, assisted by THP Officer Jimmy Tisdale as well as Sargent Dustin Hailey and Officer Jimmy Lankford of the Smith County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities are still searching for Colton.
