Campbell Baker is a fifth generation farmer on a century old farm. He’s a dedicated entrepreneur and a hardworking cattle farmer with a small herd and dream to see it grow. He’s also twelve years old. In this day and age, Campbell is not your typical pre-teen. In August of this year he purchased six registered, bred Angus heifers. Within a month, they had calved with 4 bulls and 2 heifers.
While other boys his age are inside playing Xbox, Campbell is helping his father with vaccinating, feeding, fencing, raking and storing hay. But farming isn’t the only thing Campbell enjoys. He’s also a 7th grade basketball player at New Middleton School and an active member of the Smith County 4-H. Over the summer he attended the Academic Conference at the University of Tennessee in the beef program.
When Campbell isn’t busy feeding his cattle or scoring baskets, he’s running his second business. He’s the owner and operator of Baker Lawn service. Campbell purchased his own equipment and spends his spare time beautifying the lawns of Smith and DeKalb County. As you can see, his parents, Danny and Aundrenia Baker have a lot to be proud of with this young man. The millennial generation often gets a bad reputation of being a self-entitled group, but we’re happy to know there are still boys like Campbell Baker who know the value of hard work and determination.
