On February 23, Smith County 911 received a call that a parked car had been struck by a vehicle and it left the scene of the accident. The vehicle was struck at 130 Brush Creek Circle. The driver of the vehicle then continued on Brush Creek Circle, made its was to Alexandria Highway, then entered Brush Creek Circle again. While the vehicle was traveling on Brush Creek Circle for the second time, it lost control around 60 Brush Creek Circle and exited the roadway, striking a light pole.
The scene was worked by Troopers Mark Jones and Tommy Cooper of the Tennessee Highway Patrol along with assistance from the Smith County Sheriff’s Department and Smith County EMS.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Amy Barnes. Barnes was transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center to be checked out, then later transported to Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
Barnes was charged with DUI (2nd Offense), Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving on Revoked, Open Container, Financial Responsibility, Failure to Maintain Roadway, and Failure to Give Immediate Notice of an Accident.
