(Smith County Insider Press) Gordonsville, Tenn. – Friday morning just before 10:00 am, Smith County 911 received a call reporting a MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) around the 265 mile marker East bound on I-40. The caller stated that the vehicle was nearly 60 feet off of the roadway.
Upon arriving on scene, authorities found a 2005 white Chevrolet TrailBlazer on its roof. According to Trooper Jackson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Nichole Christoper, 21, of Cookeville, TN. Christopher was headed East on I-40 when she struck the guardrail on the right side of the roadway causing her vehicle to overturn. The vehicle proceeded to slide around 60 feet down the snowy embankment.
At the time of the wreck, the interstate was covered in snow and ice.
Christoper was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical center and is believed to be in stable condition at this time.
The wreck is still under investigation at this time.
Smith County EMS, Smith County Rescue Squad, Smith County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
