A man has been arrested on multiple charges after striking a guard rail at the Hess truck stop in Gordonsville Saturday.
Officer Jason Kemp of the Gordonsville City Police Department was dispatched to the back of Hess regarding a vehicle that had stuck a guard rail at the 4-way intersection and left.
Upon arriving, Kemp spoke with the defendant, identified as 39-year-old Jamison Steven Bell of Watertown, who was very unsteady on his feet and had a smell of alcohol on his person.
Bell had just exited his car to look at the damage and then got back behind the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition when Kemp spoke with him.
Bell stated that he did hit the guard rail and had taken Alprazolam and drank two beers prior to driving.
During pat down for weapons, he stated he had a small container of pills which he admitted were his Alprazolam but did not have proof of a prescription for.
He failed two field sobriety tests and refused to do another.
A search of his car revealed a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana to which he admitted was his.
Bell was transported to Riverview Regional Medical Center for a blood test and then to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.
He is charged with Possession of Schedule VI, Possession of Schedule IV, Driving Under the Influence, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
