The University of Tennessee Extension office in Smith County will host the “Basic Master Beekeeper” class on June 29 & 30 in Gordonsville, TN. Sessions will be taught by UT Agents and Specialists and will cover topics such as “Pest and Diseases”, “Seasonal Hive Management”, “Seasonal Sources of Pollen and Nectar”, and many more.
In addition to these sessions, Dr. Clarence Collison will be on hand to provide presentations on “Management for Maximum Honey Production” and “Examining Combs-What do They Tell You?” Dr. Collison is an Emeritus Professor of Entomology and Emeritus Head of the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University, and is a much sought after speaker in the beekeeping industry.
In addition to some great educational material, graduates of the Master Beekeeper class will be eligible for TAEP grant funding through the Producer Diversification program. Registration is $100 and should be sent to UT Extension, 125 Gordonsville Hwy, Carthage, TN 37030 by June 22.
