Upper Cumberland Electric and Membership Corporation proudly sponsors a scholarship for High School Seniors. This year Smith County High School senior Katie Ash and Gordonsville High School senior Katie Grandstaff received a $2,000 scholarship. As juniors, each scholarship recipient applied and wrote a 900 word essay about one of the seven cooperative principles, Concern for the Community.
Each winner was selected for their outstanding essay and academic performance in high school. The students were presented the scholarship at the awards ceremonies at the respective school. Scholarship winners also have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Washington Youth Tour to Washington D.C.
