Two men arrested after being found in possession of methamphetamine

(Smith County Insider Press) — Two men were arrested during a welfare check by the Gordonsville Police Department after being found in possession of methamphetamine July 28.

Officer David Petty came into contact with Christopher Scruggs (32, Carthage) and Brandon Climer (34, Elmwood) during a welfare check with a female the men had picked up.

Both men were found to be in possession of two separate bags of crystal methamphetamine, and upon subsequent K-9 free air sniff, two digital scales, multiple baggies, a cut straw and hypodermic needles were located inside the vehicle.

One bag of meth was located on the ground in general proximity to the vehicle along with another bag of meth being in a magnetic box thrown in the bushes in close proximity, as well.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking.

Climer and Scruggs are both charged with the Manufacture, Deliver, Sell of a Controlled Substance and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
