Two prominent Smith County lawyers have joined the office of the district attorney general for the 15th Judicial District. Carthage attorneys Randy Wakefield and Samantha Key were sworn in as Assistant District Attorneys General on March 31,2021, upon appointment by District Attorney General Jason Lawson.  Both attorneys will begin their service on April 1.

“I could not be more pleased to have two attorneys of their caliber joining our staff” said Lawson of the pair.

“Samantha Key is a bright and very talented attorney.  She will undoubtedly be a rising star in our office.  Randy Wakefield brings a wisdom and experience that is matched by very few lawyers in our bar association.   The skills they bring to this position will certainly help the DA’s office to carry out its service to the people of our district.”

These appointments are the first additions to the district attorneys office made by newly appointed District Attorney Jason Lawson, who succeeded long-time District Attorney Tommy Thompson upon his retirement February 28th.  Lawson is a Watertown native and 18 year member of the DA’s office.
