Two women were arrested following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of an illegal drug transaction Wednesday, November 9.
During a traffic stop, Sgt. Junior Fields found the driver, identified as 30-year-old Ashley Grayson of Carthage, to be in possession of a 1 mg pill bottle of Alprazolam, which was empty and had been filled on October 31 for 90 pills.
According to Fields’ report, Grayson stated she gave her neighbor “Emma” between 15 and 20 pills to sell but stated that she does overtake said pills. According to the report, she should have had 56 pills at the time of interaction.
While further speaking to Grayson, it was found that she had actually sold said pills to her neighbor on November 5 at around 1 p.m. and that she had received $20, according to Fields’ report.
Fields went to the neighbor’s residence on Bowman Lane and spoke with Emma Bartlett, 39 of Elmwood, who was outside of the residence. Upon speaking to her, Fields asked where the Alprazolam (Xanax) were that she had purchased from Grayson, at which time she stated she had sold two Alprazolam pills after Grayson continued to ask her to sell some for her, according to the report. She then advised Fields that she had paid Grayson $8 and made $2 on said drug transaction.
Both women were arrested and transported to the Smith County Jail Facility for booking. They are each charged with Sell of Schedule IV and Felony Conspiracy to Sell Schedule IV (Alprazolam).
