Trio Faces Charges Stemming from Theft of Approximately $40,000

Three people were arrested following a burglary in the Grant community Sunday, September 11.

Deputy Matt Bush was dispatched to 225 Possum Hollow Rd. Sunday to investigate a burglary report.

According to Bush, upon arrival at the residence, he found that the victim had discovered both of his two storage buildings broken into with numerous tools, power tools, camping equipment, and hunting equipment missing — totaling approximately $40,000 in all.

The victim’s neighbor had brought him a bow to fix, which the victim identified as his, according to Bush’s report.

Bush drove by the neighbor’s residence and observed items described as missing laying in his yard. A second visit to the residence revealed that said items were no longer there, according to Bush.

Interviews conducted by Deputy Bush and Sgt. Junior Fields revealed that 25-year-old Josey Foskey of Watertown, 31-year-old Kendra Grisham of Carthage and 48-year-old Roger Puryear (Foskey’s half brother) of Carthage had conspired to commit burglary of the victim’s property, and that Puryear had given Foskey and Grisham two hydrocodone (schedule II) pills and $40 cash to go back and get more items, according to the report. He was given a chain saw and took a weed eater, which had also been stolen.

Foskey and Grisham had hidden items inside a storage building, as well as under and inside the residence prior to Bush and Fields arriving there, according to the report.

All three have been arrested and are being held in the Smith County Jail Facility.

Foskey is charged with tampering or fabricating evidence, burglary and theft of property.

Grisham is charged with felony criminal conspiracy, burglary and theft of property.

Puryear is charged with manufacturing/delivery/sell of a controlled substance and felony criminal conspiracy.

All three are to appear in court on Thursday, October 6.

Grisham was previously arrested in December 2011 on charges stemming from theft of money from New Middleton School’s cafeteria lunch fund and funds from the Angel Tree program. Both WKRN and WSMV covered that story.
