Gabriel Alonzo, of Texas, and Krystine Lee, of Mississippi, was involved in a tractor trailer accident late Saturday night, July 4th. The accident occurred on Interstate 40 West at the 263 mile marker. Due to heavy rains, the driver lost control of the truck, striking the guard rail on the left, before coming to a stop off an embankment on the right hand side of the interstate. No injuries occurred in the accident.
The Smith County Hazmat team was called to the scene due to leaking diesel fuel from a fuel tank that had ruptured on the truck.
Sgt. Eric McCormick of the Tennessee Highway patrol worked the scened. He was assisted by Smith County Sheriff’s Department, Smith County EMS, and Smith County Hazmat team. The driver was cited for failure to exercise due care.
