On Wednesday, August 18, the Gordonsville Police Department received a report of a stolen tractor trailer truck from the Pilot truck stop in Gordonsville.
According to Gordonsville Police Chief, Shannon Hunt, the driver of the truck parked at Pilot and went inside to shower and when he went to return to his truck, it was gone.
The trailer was located later Wednesday afternoon in Lebanon, but the truck has not been found. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement regarding the incident:
Detectives with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was contacted yesterday by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tennessee Highway Patrol requesting assistance in recovering a stolen tractor trailer from Gordonsville (TN) that occurred on the same day. Investigators from both agencies located the trailer in Lebanon which was hauling items valued at approximately 1 million dollars.
Upon recovery of the trailer, it was found to still be full of the stolen items. The truck that was attached to the trailer during the act of it being stolen was not located at the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Criminal Investigation Division works tirelessly to locate stolen vehicles and tractor trailers on the highways in Tennessee and both agencies maintain an excellent working relationship in cases such as these.
The investigation remains active at this time.
